Outdoor Exploring

Take in history and conservation on the 20 miles of hiking trails at the most preserved battlefield in the United States.  

Bring your kayak, fishing pole, or walking shoes.  The Chaplin is a great place to enjoy the outdoors, you can also relax along the river walk to watch our resident ducks and otters.

Enjoy a picnic or a leisurely stroll in Baril Park.  You'll have a fantastic view of the Chaplin River and Historic Merchants Row.

You'll find a Monarch Waystation at Dr. Polk's House and Office.  Thanks to our partners, The Friends of Perryville Battlefield, we're able to do our part to help protect beneficial pollinators.
